Tucked between the Orange Line and the Willamette River, just minutes from Downtown Portland, lies a true gem: the Sellwood-Moreland neighborhood. Once its own city, Sellwood now boasts some of Portland’s finest antique malls, restaurants and outdoor spaces.
Locally owned shops like Stars Antiques Malls and Portland Homestead Supply Co. offer everything you could want to outfit the dream Portland home, from vintage furniture to backyard chickens.
Sellwood is also home to a flourishing Asian food scene, including the Willamette Week Food Cart of the Year, Straits Kitchen. It’s the only place in the city where you’ll find Baba-Nyonya cuisine, a sort of Chinese–Malaysian fusion rich with spice and flavor.
All of Sellwood is wonderfully walkable, from Sellwood Riverfront Park at one end to Westmoreland City Park on the other. At the latter, you’ll find the Westmoreland Nature Park, a playground filled with natural materials (think logs, sand and boulders) that encourages creativity and adventure.
